I am Rafael Bernal I am the proud principal of Lunada Bay Elementary or Nestled here in the lower Lunada Bay Area are schools been around since the 50s there's been generations of families coming to school here I love this school is a small community so I feel like all the teachers know all the parents and all the students whether they were in the class or not Lunada Bay and I tell everybody what a great deal it is just walking on campus you feel like you're home we use something called flexible seating in the classroom and get some kids a lot of opportunity to make choices in the classroom day also able to choose a seat that's comfortable for them or you think I can stop which is a social emotional learning curriculum and the puppets are at school to get the kids to engage and to the left and they participate a lot more when he died what time are the kids are just so engage all these kids are exactly Macy's work with it feels like a home like everyone here is just such a good at the port and it feels like it's a family here we have around 350 students we have a one-to-one computers they also have amazing arts program in the Fine Arts music artichoke fingertips he have the most amazing staff during staff meetings and it's a natural occurrence to see them or take vertically across grade level you have kindergartners working with 4th grade teachers all grade levels work together and they share information we have the Lunada Bay Plaza rehab Harvest Festival the lawn and how to pay homeowners association and a partner with the school so tightly that the resources are just so immense I would tell a family is about to start her school they are going to have the well-rounded experience for their child from add multiple Arts programs to the curriculum science math English language arts and on top of that the social emotional learning support that is provided to them and they truly cared for it really is Hometown feel we like to think of ourselves as one school one team one hill
