happy holidays second and third graders I'm so excited to be doing this project with you for those of you who may not know me my name is Miss Mac I'm a third grade teacher here on an errand I can't wait to spend the night 2 minutes with you walking you through the school project the first thing that we are going to do together is open what is in are Ziploc bag and I'm also have a couple X I have a pair of scissors a pencil and some markers to decorate the Snowman if you want you don't have to but I have that available if is that something that you would want to do so let's get this all set up and make sure that we have all the supplies that we need there are a few things in here the first one is the actual snowman which is where we will tell him forget then we have some tape we have some copper tape we have to light bulb lights and we have a battery so make sure that you have all those things before we get started make sure you don't do anything yet but I'm going to put these to the side for now and I am going to color my stomach now I've already done this so you can see that I've already colored my snowman and you can pause the video and you can color it if you want you don't have to I bet if you'd like you're going to want to color it right now the LED lights are going to come through on the cheeks of the Snowman so keep that in mind that's where we're going to okay so you might want to pause your video right now if you're planning on coloring okay so now the first thing that you were going to do is we are going to fold this card. piece of paper in half and as you can see this business more directions on the back but I'm still going to walk you through it so we want to make sure to fold it in half line up your corners make an ice cream I'm going to just use my finger now and I'm going to make sure that I preached this really nicely but I'm going to open it back up so that I can actually work on it second step is that I need to make holes where the snowman's cheeks are so that the LED like him poke through his cheeks or her cheeks the snow woman or snow person this one you're going to want to get an adult to help you I don't want you doing this on your own and I don't want anyone getting hurt so you need to make sure you get an adult to help you I have just a work that that I'm going to put best paper on cuz I don't want to ruin my desk do you want to make sure something is under this before you do that you can do this one of two ways you could just use a pen and try to poke the hole through can a sharp pain you could also use your scissors and you could just open them up and make a little act where these cheeks are and again you're going to have a parent do this I don't want you doing so I'm going to just make a little axe and actually I didn't even make him if you see the point of my scissors helped two little holes into the snow person that's all you need you just need a call me to take the LED light and I'm just going to make sure that it can pop through the whole Walmart and that one worked awesome summer ladies lights to the side for now so let's look at that there is a longer path for the copper tape and shorter and I am going to pick the longer piece of the copper pit and that one's going to go on this this side because we need a little bit more of it if you look at the copper tape you'll see there's a white backing and this is us had has Keisha so it Diamond don't rip this all off yet I'm going to just open a little bit to get started okay and I'm going to just follow the so you notice I'm not pulling us all off cuz I don't want it to get all stuck together so I'm going to press down the corners can be a little tricky so what you're going to do with the corners is you're going to bend the off I sent way and then sold back to follow the gray line so I'm going to start with a bend in the completely opposite way now I'm going to fold it back over and follow the light let me kind of show you what that looks like you may want to pause and take a minute to do it so one more time ice first when did they first invent all the way opposite and then I folded it over and followed the gray line again going slow and I'm following a gray line and I'm getting again to another corner so now I'm going to go the opposite direction and I manifold and then fold back down and I'm going to follow that the law why come to me and then I have a little bit last time and I just cut that off all right so you may want to pause and make sure that you have this I'm set up correctly okay so now I'm ready to do this part so I'm going to get my second piece of property which is the shorter of the two again I'm going to take the white backing off but not going to pull it all apart yet cuz I don't want it to stick to myself or my clothes or make fingers or the paper Sevendust follow this Gray Line when I come down I don't know what are we doing our Corner remember we go the opposite way first so I'm going to fold it away from the Gray Line and then I install a security light come to our last corner and I'm going to fold it. Anna can I have a XtraMath okay you can see I didn't do this line perfectly close enough it's okay that it's not perfect my next step is that I am going to tape the LED lights down and we provided labels on their actually little labels but they can used as paint so we're going to use these labels and we are going to use them as tape I'm going to peel a couple weeks back and get them ready if you look at the lights you will notice that one leg of the LED light is shorter than the other one and you want to make sure that that short or the negative part of the light is on this side and the longer leg or the positive part of the light is on this side. all I get it as flat as I can't and I'm going to lay it right where it's open to I actually cut one of these in half but they don't think I need all of that I'm going to I got to make sure that the silver legs are touching the copper laminate press down pretty hard and just make sure that I get that connection going you want to make sure that those silver parts are touching the copper the same thing down here my carefully look make sure that I have my shorter leg on the right side and my longer leg or the positive side on the other did the same thing I'll pause and I'll let you do that okay I cut my teeth in half cheap touching and making sure that those legs are touching the copper all right and I am almost done I'm so excited so now what I'm going to do is I'm going to take the battery and the battery comes in a pack just rip it or use scissors to cut it again make sure that you're having an adult help you with this part anyone getting hurt shut the battery and if you look at the battery closely you'll see that there is a positive sign or a plus sign on the top of the battery and there is like a grid looking thing on the bottom negative part do you want to make sure that the negative part is taking it I'm sorry its face down so that means that the plus sign or the positive part would be facing you or facing up so now I am going to get two more pieces of tape and I'm going to take the battery on to you want to make sure that you do not cover the battery with the tape because that is where it's going to get its power from and this is how it's going to light up so you really want to be careful it's only and if you look you'll see that I put tape just barely on the sides to hold that in place alright so now what happens is so you're going to fold it over and you want to make sure that this piece of copper is going to touch this. and that is how you will light up the LED play Gently fold it over and I make sure to poke the LED lights through the snowman or so women or no person now you have a super cool light up. At least you can do this at your own pace you can go back and pause the video as needed and I hope that you had a really good time I loved being able to do this with you and I hope that you have a wonderful wonderful holiday season I miss all of you and I can't wait to see you soon
