Thank you!

I was surprised today with coffee, gifts, and flowers for my birthday.  Thank you so much!  I loved all the notes, the flowers look beautiful, and  I adore coffee!:).
I felt really special today.
Thank you all for helping make my day:)

A few things coming up:)

Hi Parents,
Please note the following coming up:)

***100th Day of School is, Tuesday, February 5th.  Your child will dress as a 100 year old on that day.  Keep an eye out for old lady/man attire;).  Note to follow soon!

***Valentines: Don’t forget to purchase Valentines for your child for Valentine’s Day, Friday, Februrary 14th. We have 24 students in our class (if you include your child). Only write your child's name on the From portion. DO NOT write who the Valentine is going to. Leave the To portion blank.

***Please bring 2 Trader Joes (or other brown paper supermarket bags) to school as soon as possible.  Extras are appreciated!

Thank you!

Have a nice weekend;)

Field Trip! :-)

Hi Parents,
I hope you were able to have some quality time with your kiddos over the break.  We had a good first day back:).
We will be visiting the California Science Center for our field trip this year.  We will be going on Friday, February 8th.  If you would like to chaperone, we would love to have you!  In order to keep the number ratio (parent/child) low, we need lots of volunteers.  Please email me if you would like to be a chaperone on the filed trip. Your name will be entered into a raffle and will let you know the names I randomly pull. You will need to be at school by 8:00 and we should be back by 2:30, but sometimes we get back later, so keep this in mind when volunteering. :) Also, please email me if you are willing to donate 24 chocolate chip granola bars for the field trip (no nuts please). I'm looking forward to a great year! Let me know ASAP if you want to go.

Happy New Year!

Hello parents,
Happy New Year!  I hope like me, you had a restful and fun filled holiday with your family.  I know I did!  We rescued a 5 month old kitten and little “Cubby” has been filling our house with so much joy!😊
I would like to say thank you very much for your generous class gift of gift cards to Nordstrom and Starbucks and another visa gift card. I can’t wait to spend it with my family!  In the whirlwind of Christmas and our break being so late this year, I forgot to thank you all.  Sorry about that!
Thank you also to those who volunteered at the the class party as well.  It was a great success and the students had such a blast with all the activities:).
Gentle reminder.... if Flat Stanley has not come back yet, please remind the person you sent it to that they are due this week.  We can’t wait to hear about Flat Stanley’s adventures!
I look forward to starting a new year with your kiddos.  I miss their smiling faces and can’t wait to tell them about Cubby!  See you and your kids tomorrow.  Enjoy your last day!

Chicken Soup Poem Recitation

Hi Parents,
Please don't forget to have your child practice the Chicken Soup poem for December.  You can find it in the homework or on this Edlio site on the right hand side.  Last month there were several students who were not prepared or did not practice.  Please help them be ready to go asap.  We won't time on Friday, so we are going to start reciting tomorrow and get through as many as possible. :)

Thank you for your support!

December Happenings

It was so nice meeting with all of you at our conferences! You should be proud of your child's progress this year. Thank you to those of you who donated books to our class from the Book Fair. The kids were so excited to get these new books for our classroom library. Please note the following:
1. Wednesday, December 19th, is the Winter Sing at 9 am in the MPR. First grade will go right after kindergarten.
2. Friday, December 21st, we get out at 12 pm. Have your child wear their favorite pajamas on the 21st, but please bring comfortable shoes for P.E.
3. No homework December 24-28 and January 7-11. Homework will resume on January 14th, although Flat Stanley is due the first week in January. I do encourage you to have your child keep reading during these weeks and over winter break. Don't forget about having your child go onto Raz kids as well.
4. Flat Stanley due January 7th when we come back!  Make sure you remind whoever you sent it to;)
Have a wonderful winter break with your family. I can't wait to see you when we get back. :)

Hi Parents,
Check the side bar on the bottom for the link to the word wall words for this week's homework;)

Report Cards and a few other things

Hi Parents,
***After a chaotic day, I realized that I forgot to hand out report cards!  I tried to find all the students that I could, but if your child doesn't have one, he/she will get it tomorrow;).  If you could, please SIGN THE ENVELOPE and RETURN TO SCHOOL.  You can keep the actual report card.
**Also, we do not have a volunteer to bring in treasure box prizes for December. Can you donate some small prizes?  Thank you in advance!
**There seems to be some miscommunication and I am hoping that you receiving these messages from Edlio.  They should be going to your email automatically.  Can someone please let me know if you are receiving the messages and when they pop up in your email?  I'd appreciate it greatly!:)
**Dismissal is at 12 pm (noon) the next three days, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday because of parent teacher conferences.
Thank you and see you soon!

empty paper towel roll

Hi Parents,
This is a friendly reminder.... Your child was asked to bring in an empty paper towel roll to class for homework last week.  Only half the class brought one in, unfortunately.  We need them for lessons next week, so if your child hasn't brought one in yet, (or you'd like to bring in extra), please do so ASAP.
Thank you!

Poetry Journals

Hi Parents,
The poetry journals were collected and I forgot to send them back home.  If you are missing yours, your child can work on it next week. Sorry about that!

Happy Thanksgiving! Also--Raz-Kids

Hi Parents,
Tis' the season to be thankful!  I am so thankful for my job here at Lunada Bay.  I am blessed with caring parents enthusiastic students.  Thank you for being supportive as well!  Enjoy your week off with you kiddos!
Please note....
I am sending home login information for Raz-kids.  This is a reading program that we have been using in class.  The students can read, listen, and answer questions to stories that are at their level:).  Sometimes it is hard to find books your child can read on their own, but now there is!  I'm giving this to you over the break so you and your child can explore together.  Have your child show you what he/she does.  They should know by now;).  I am also including some tips for you so you understand what your child should be doing.
The next homework assignments will include Raz-kids as part of the reading for homework.  Please note that kids should read AND answer questions.  If the story is nonfiction, please have your child read and listen before answering questions.
Raz-kids is great and yet another thing to be thankful for!  Thank you for your cooperation and have a wonderful break!
