Welcome to the Lunada Bay Library!

Greetings from the Library!

I am so excited to share the love of reading each year with the all of the students at Lunada Bay! The library is located at the far side of campus near the upper grade gate, and is nestled in the reading garden which is a favorite hangout for kids at recess and lunch. Our doors are always open for the students at recess and lunchtime.  The library is a safe zone where many children feel happy and content to spend their time reading, drawing, playing on computers, and hanging out with their friends.

During library time each week, I read fabulous books to the students, teach library skills, and help students find the perfect books to check out. Storytime in the library is an educational experience that:

  • Integrates visual (pictures and words) with auditory (spoken words) to facilitate language learning;
  • Provides opportunities for turn taking;
  • Increases listening and attending skills;
  • Library time encourages early literacy skills and phonological awareness.

Through the action of checking out and returning books on time each week, our students learn to take the responsibility for checking out and returning books on time and experience the simple sharing of communal property.

If you would like to sign up as a parent volunteer please email me at [email protected].  I would love to add you to the library schedule which is updated each month.  As a former PTA President and student parent, I want you to know how valuable you are.  We love parent volunteers and cannot function without the extra hands to scan books in and out and return books to the shelves!

Please stop by and visit, you are always welcome!
