Don't forget....

Hi Parents,
Don't forget:
  • Your child will need to be prepared by Monday to recite the memorized Chicken Soup poem.  If you can't find the poem, check the right hand side of this page, or the first homework packet.  They will be reciting the September poem.
  • Also, if you haven't already, please bring in a full toilet paper roll.  We only have 16 rolls and we need every student to have one so we can do a craft.  Please bring one in ASAP. Thank you to those who have already brought one;).
Thank you and have a wonderful weekend!:)

Reading folders

Hi parents,
You may see yellow reading folders come home in the near future.  When one comes home, please have your child read the book to you or another adult, sign that he/she has read it, and return the book in the folder back to school.  Research shows that children build fluency when they reread texts.  If you do not see a reading folder come home, your child is most likely working on reading skills at school, not to worry;)
Thank you!

Last call for Scholastic book orders!  If you would like to order some books, go to this address and follow these instructions:
(I will make the order tomorrow morning).

Happy Reading!

One more note about homework:)....

One more time...
1st grade homework works in a 2 week cycle.  One week, your child will read, do poetry, and work on a packet, including reading log.  The 2nd week (like this week), you child will read, do the poetry book, and turn in a reading log.  You may take that 2nd week as an opportunity to review skills together, do extra homework activities (on the back of the calendar), or just spend more time as a family:).  Thank you for your cooperation:)

Homework is here!
Please check the right side of this page for the "homework page".  After you click on it, you will click on Sept. 11-15, download it, print it, and then have your child work on it.  It is due on Friday, so no rush!  Poetry books will go home on Monday.  Have a great weekend!

Hi Parents,
It was wonderful seeing you all last night!  I am excited to walk along side of you through your child's education. It's going to be a great year!  If you were unable to come last night, please check the powerpoint presentation, watch it, and let me know if you have any questions.  Have a great weekend!

Minimum Day tomorrow 9/8

Hi Parents!

I look forward to seeing you tonight in my room, Room 2 at 7:15 (all school in the MPR at 6:45) for Back to School Night.   Just a reminder that this is a parent only night.  I will discuss class routines and curriculum and give an overview of the year.

Friday, September 8 is a minimum day, dismissal at 12:00 pm.  There was a mistake on the student calendar (the calendar in their homework folders.)  Dismissal today, Thursday, is 2:35.

Thank you!  Can't wait to see you all tonight!

Happy days are here again!

Hi Parents!
We had a wonderful first day of school today!  Your little ones are so cute and sweet.  I can't wait to get to know them more! If you haven't already, please check the following:

*Check folders EVERY night.  There is a student information letter that needs to be filled out (front and back) and returned ASAP.

*Me in a Bag:  If you are missing this information from your child’s folder, check the tab on the right.  Bring in bag with items by this Friday, September 1st.

*Please bring in supplies as soon as you can.  Pencil boxes (standard size only please!), 1 inch binders, and two pocket folders are needed in the class.

Thank you so much for your cooperation.  I look forward to a fun year!
